iOS and Android mobile apps for your business

A simple app that is useful every day, on iPhone and Android alike.

A mobile app is justified when it supports your clients or staff day to day: in the field, on the move, at the moment they need it. LYL Software Sàrl develops iOS and Android apps for SMEs in French-speaking Switzerland, from design to publication on the App Store and Google Play.

What we build

  • Field apps for your staff: entering reports, photos, signatures, viewing files, even without a connection.
  • Mobile client areas: tracking a request, uploading documents, booking appointments, secure messaging.
  • Internal apps: scheduling, checklists, quality control, inventory.
  • Mobile companions to custom software or to an existing tool you already use.

The apps make use of the phone's features: camera and document scanning, geolocation, notifications, fingerprint or face authentication.

iOS and Android, one codebase

In most projects, we use a cross-platform technology. A shared codebase produces both the iPhone app and the Android app. The benefits are tangible:

  • only one development to maintain;
  • updates released on both platforms at the same time;
  • consistent behaviour for all your users.

When the project requires features that are very specific to one system, we discuss it with you and adapt the technology.

How we work

  1. Scoping: who the app is for, in which situations, and why a website is not enough. Our article Website or web app? helps answer this question.
  2. User journeys and mock-ups: every screen is designed and tested before development.
  3. First version: the essential features, tested on real phones by your future users.
  4. Publication: preparing store listings, screenshots and privacy declarations, and submitting to the App Store and Google Play.
  5. Evolution and maintenance: compatibility with new versions of iOS and Android, fixes, new features.

Internal apps can also be distributed to your staff only, without public release. You will find more details in our method.

Data and security

A mobile app almost always connects to a server that stores the data. We host this server in Switzerland, with Infomaniak, whenever possible. Exchanges are encrypted, access is protected and the data stored on the phone is kept to the minimum necessary.

App stores require a precise description of the data collected. The nFADP (new Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection), in force since 1 September 2023, also requires users to be informed. We prepare this information with you. Connections to your other tools go through our data integration service.

Use cases

  • An insurance brokerage whose advisers view files and photograph documents during appointments.
  • A real estate agency that carries out its property inspections on a tablet.
  • A shop or SME whose staff fill in their call-out reports in the field.
  • A medical practice that offers its patients an appointment booking app.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need to develop two separate apps for iOS and Android?

Not necessarily. We usually use a shared codebase that produces both versions. This shortens the timeline and makes maintenance easier, while respecting the conventions of each platform.

Who handles publication on the App Store and Google Play?

We prepare and submit the app to both stores, taking their review rules into account. The app can be published in your name or restricted to internal use.

Is a mobile app always necessary?

No. For many needs, a well-designed website is enough. An app is justified when it is used often, offline, with the camera, location or notifications.
