Custom software for SMEs in French-speaking Switzerland

A tool built around the way you work, not the other way round.

Shared spreadsheets, copy-and-paste between several tools, information scattered across e-mails: many SMEs run on makeshift solutions. They hold up for a while, then become a source of errors and wasted time. Custom software brings order. It centralises your information, guides your staff step by step and produces the documents you need.

LYL Software Sàrl, based in Lausanne, builds software for businesses in French-speaking Switzerland. Our motto, "Lift Your Level", sums up the goal: to save you time on repetitive tasks so you can focus on your core business.

What we build

  • Business tools: case management, mandate tracking, scheduling, checking of supporting documents.
  • Client portals: a secure area where your clients upload documents, follow the progress of a request or sign a form.
  • Internal web applications: tracking dashboards, task management, multi-level approval.
  • Calculation and document-generation tools: quotes, reports and certificates produced automatically from your data.
  • Extensions to existing tools: modules that complement software you already use, via its API.

Each tool can include artificial intelligence and automation features or connect to your other software through our data integration service. If your users mainly work in the field, a mobile app can complement the web version.

How we work

A project always starts with a conversation about your day-to-day work. We look at how tasks are carried out today, who is involved, what information flows and where the bottlenecks are. From there, we propose a clear scope for a first version.

  1. Needs analysis: short interviews with the people who will use the tool.
  2. Mock-ups: you see the screens before development and correct them.
  3. First version: a tool you can use quickly, limited to the essentials.
  4. Step-by-step improvements: we add features based on your feedback.
  5. Support and maintenance: security updates, fixes and enhancements.

This approach limits risk. You approve each stage and you do not pay for features nobody uses. Our method is described on a dedicated page, and the article on how long a software project takes gives useful benchmarks.

Security and data protection

Business software often holds personal data: client contact details, identity documents, health or financial information. We take this into account from the design stage:

  • hosting in Switzerland with Infomaniak whenever possible;
  • role-based access, so each user sees only what concerns them;
  • logging of important actions;
  • regular backups and a tested restore procedure.

The nFADP (new Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection) has been in force since 1 September 2023. A well-designed tool helps you comply with it. To find out more, read our article on hosting data in Switzerland.

Use cases

  • An insurance brokerage that wants to check automatically that every file contains the mandatory documents.
  • A fiduciary that wants a portal where its clients upload their supporting documents.
  • A real estate agency that wants to track its mandates and viewings in a single tool.
  • A medical practice that needs an internal tool to organise its administrative tasks.

Do you have a project, or just an idea that is still taking shape? Tell us about your situation: we will tell you frankly whether custom development is justified.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose custom software rather than an off-the-shelf product?

Off-the-shelf software imposes its own screens and steps. A custom tool follows your actual processes, removes duplicate data entry and grows with your business. When an existing solution covers your needs well, we will tell you.

How long does a custom software project take?

It depends on the scope. We start with a useful first version, delivered quickly, then add features step by step. The schedule is set with you once your needs have been analysed.

Where is my software's data hosted?

Whenever possible, we host applications and data in Switzerland, with Infomaniak. Access is protected and backups are planned from the outset.
